Blondeau Fine Arts Festival

About the Blondeau Fine Arts Festival

The Fine Arts Festival was originally implemented by Diane Prischmann in 1998. Diane coordinated the event to honor outstanding high school seniors involved in the fine arts. In the original festival, three separate areas were set up in the high school for senior students to perform various talents; singing, playing instruments, magic and more. The hallways surrounding performance areas were adorned with visual artwork created by students under the instruction of Tom Blondeau, Christine Gyolai and Lynn Ouren.

Tom Blondeau was a very prominent visual art instructor for Fergus Falls Public Schools who retired from the district in 2005. Upon his passing in 2006, The Fine Arts Festival was renamed to memorialize his dedication to the arts.

The festival has occurred every spring since its 1998 origins, evolving into a juried visual art exhibition that is judged by local artists. Artwork is displayed by separate categories, each category the responsibility of a different judge to evaluate and determine a "Best in Show" award. While the artwork is displayed for the public to browse through, live student fine arts performances are also available.
